Marine Fisheries Institute of Las Palmas

The first record of the current Marine Fisheries Institute of Las Palmas (IFP MPLP) dates back to 1964, with the construction of the great building of the Casa del Marino (House of the Marine) of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the establishment of a Nautical Academy among its various units and services.

Since that time the Casa del Marino has provided training designed to promote and recycle the man of the sea, and to prepare young people for the maritime profession. In the new Spanish Educational Reform, which has taken a major turn of Vocational Training, the Training Courses in the Marine Fisheries are already in operation and our centre, trying to keep ahead of these studies has been concerned for some years to acquire all materials, machinery and new technology required to teach them with the highest standards.
